actually, a general practitioner can do a pelvic exam. anything needs to be done, cooperate surrounded by the interest of your own health. a womans body is drastically complex and a doctor has to work through dozens of potential cause. some tests may be fear-provoking but you will be ok in the finale. personally, i would not walk see a general doc, i would progress straight to a gyn because that is their specialty.
