PCOS information?

I'm looking for more information on PCOS. I'd like to hear from women that enjoy this condition. Have you tried any fertility treatments, and what were your experiences? How be you diagnosed? Have you found any books or websites with perfect, credible information on the causes, symptoms and possible treatment? Any other information you would similar to to share would also be helpful. Thanks contained by advance.

2 weeks untimely on my period?

I be diagnosed with PCOS almost three years ago. I have always have really irregular periods and they kept getting worse. At my first gyno appointment, the doctor told me I probably have PCOS because I had adjectives the classic symptoms--irregular periods, dilute hair, body/facial fleece growth, acne, dark skin patch, obesity. You should hold blood work done to check hormone levels and rule out other conditions, but disappointingly my doctor didn't have a righteous understanding of the condition, so he only put me on birth control pills and told me not to worry around it. I didn't see a knowledgable doctor until two years later, and she confirmed that I did enjoy PCOS. I'm now self treated for insulin resistance, high cholesterol, big triglycerides--all linked to PCOS. I haven't tried to win pregnant yet and won't be for some time, but here are lots of women on www.soulcysters.net who enjoy conceived or are trying to conceive. There is a book I found very considerate called PCOS: The Hidden Epidemic, by Dr. Samuel Thatcher.

My experience be that it took a very long time for doctors to give somebody a lift my complaints seriously. My periods have never been regular at adjectives, but it took until I was 19 (10 years after I started have periods) for someone to actually sanction that there be something wrong, and another two years to find a doctor who knew anything roughly speaking it. By that time I had merely 3-4 periods a year and have developed all the other symptoms as resourcefully.

As far as treatment, I'm on metformin (Glucophage), Mircette (birth control pill), and Crestor (a statin). Metformin is a diabetes drug that many women bring because PCOS is often coupled to insulin resistance, and alleviating insulin resistance can help return ovarian function to conventional. Often, women with PCOS rob it when they are trying to conceive because it can induce ovulation. I take it because my lipid problems are connected to insulin resistance. The Crestor is for cholesterol and triglycerides. The Mircette (or any birth control pill) works by decreasing ovarian function, which lowers manly hormone levels and can prevent unmarked cysts from forming.

If you think you own PCOS, my advice is to read everything you can in the order of it and find a doctor who is knowledgable. Some doctors really know very little something like it, and they might unintentionally hand over their patients bad information--my first gyno told me I didn't call for to worry roughly speaking it at all!
