Do the " Plan B" (levonorgestrel) pills really work?

If unprotected sex has occured 9 days formerly menstrual cycle do the plan B pills still work ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? and are there any other things to do/take to build sure pregnancy did not occur?

EC is very forceful when taken promptly (72 hours) after unprotected sex, but can be taken up to 5 days after. It works to prevent ovulation and fertilization - basically it stops your ovaries from releasing a grow egg, and prevents sperm from joining with an egg. It's also be theorized that EC may also prevent implantation of a fertilized egg, but that hasn't be proven yet.
