Can an IUD affect your mood or cause depression?
I had a tot this past November and have a Mirena IUD inserted in February. I felt fine up until I get the IUD. After having it almost a week I started having mood swings and mild depression. Is this average? Has anyone else ever had this come to pass? I called my ob/gyn but he's out of the department this week.

How long after u start ur period do u use a tampon?
I enjoy a copper IUD, it never affected me, but the Mirena have hormones that it releases. Those hormones could affect your mood. You could talk beside the on-call doctor or a nurse but mood changes are nominated as a normal side effect of it. Most inhabitants are free from side effects within three months. If the depression get to an unhealthy plane you should call right away so you can acquire help. Good luck and I hope you touch better soon.
How do I know if I have lost my virginity?
Wow, I wasn't aware women be still using the IUD (it's kind of dangerous) I'm no ob/gyn but perchance it has something to do beside your hormones? Other than that, I don't think have an IUD would affect your mood swings and mild depression. If you want a faster answer- I'd go to the nearest Planned Parenthood who could diagnose your problem faster than subsequent week! How can a woman 35 yrs of ago do her best to prevent birth defects since becoming pregnant?
All forms of birth control can have side effects similar to mood swings and depression. I have never be on an IUD, but my last pills made me that channel so I switched. When your ob/gyn gets rear legs ask him about other methods you could try. You shouldn't be on something that make you unhappy.Good Luck
Tell your doctor promptly if any of these serious side effects occur: removal of menstrual period, confusion, chills, stomach pain, trouble breathing, mental/mood change, decreased interest in sex, vaginal swelling/itching, bleeding intercourse.
Taken straight from a drug book. This IUD is new to me so I have to look it up. You did the right thing by calling your doctor. But you may want to insist on conversation with how ever is taking over his patients for the time self. Good luck and I hope this helps.
