What exactly is a "tampon"?
and what is it used for? This has be keeping me from sleeping.

A tampon is compact cotton shaped usually like a cyclinder that a woman inserts in her vagina to fence in the menstral flow of blood once a month. The tampon is usually inserted with a cardboard or plastic applicator. It wants to be changed every few hours so as to avoid "leaks" or an infection known as TSS, Toxic Shock Syndrome. Many younger women and womanly atheletes prefer tampons because once inserted, they can't really be felt.
The "napkin" Sawyer refered to is if truth be told a pad, or a "maxi." (You see these on Always commercials cathing the blue solution.) They have sticky stuff on the back to stick to a woman's panties and also corner the mentral flow. (In my opinion, they're messy. Tampons are much better!)

A tampon is necessarily just a cotton plug inserted into the woman's vagina during menstruation that prevents blood from getting everywhere.Just have an idea that of a pad that you would wear on your underwear when you own your period, a verbs one, take it and squish it contained by your hands, consequently picture wrapping it with a piece of cardboard to hold it together, beside a string. When you insert it, all go in but the cardboard. It's a road of catching the blood as it comes down compared to wearing a pad on your underwear. I grew up wearing pad so that's what I do. However, during swim season it's nice to have a tampon. And they are not dangerous, when I was little they weren't. Because of toxic shock syndrome. But they were made differently afterwards and women left them contained by longer which caused the toxic shock. With a tampon you can set out it in for a positive amount of time, the directions on the box will tell you how long you can give up them in. There are also several different size tampons, small up to sizeable.
