When you have a infant the hormones stimulate milk production - so the milk ducts in your breasts increase and I believe displace or replace the fat cell - which is why women who nurse many children for a long time repeatedly have flat breasts. The more the babe-in-arms nurses over time, the more milk is produced (it's a supply and demand thing). When the babe stops nursing the milk production stops (it takes a few weeks for it to really stop)
