Am I Too Old to go and get the HPV Shot?

i'm 26 and i saw my doctor to see if i can get the HPV shot. She told me I be "too old." I come home and did some research. (I should've done it before my doctor's visit) and surrounded by all the online research, they indicated that women over 26 be now getting the shots. The student doctor benign of gave herself away when she told me she would find out if my insurance covered it. When i asked my regular doctor how i know if my insurance covered the three HPV shots, that's when she said i was too matured.

I have a impression she might have said that because my insurance didn't cover it. i'm upset presently. i think i'm varying doctors. i don't understand why i couldn't grasp the shot.

For those of u who have have D&C done?

the best thing to do is to aim the opinion of two or more other doctors roughly speaking age restriction conserning the HPV shots. it they contradict what your doctor told you then you enjoy another decision to trade name; do you take the shot? and do you resign from your current doctor for another?

If I use the same nasal decongestant spray that I used 6 months ago when I be sick will I get sick again?

It is recommended for girls 9-26, so you are hardly in the age extent to get it. I turned 27 right up to that time the FDA approved it, so I was not competent to get it. I would turn back and insist that you take the shot or find another dr. who will give it to you. I haven't hear of anyone over 26 getting the shot though.

Am I normal? (serious answers and girls only)?

my concerned is that its ideal to carry the shot before you become sexually stirring. If you happen to be 26 and NOT sexually alive, then you should certainly insist on the shot. But I assume you are not a virgin. In that case, your gyno can do an hpv exam. If the test is positive that medium you already have to virus and the shot would be pointless. But if you are refusal, then it seem the shot would still be benefical for protecting you in the future. Once again, this is a moment ago my understanding. Bottom queue is get a bright doctor. One that you feel comfortable next to. Plus some drug stores (like Wal-greens) offer the HPV shot and sometimes are cheaper or own different policies about insurance companies. So you might want to check that out. Good Luck.

Is it true that u can still hold ur period and still be pregnate?

The HPV shot have been approved for girls and women ages 9-26, which process that's the demographic it was tested on. Since the three shots are given over the course of six months, you might be out of that age variety by the time you get your third shot, so you'd be getting the drug off-label. That doesn't show it wouldn't protect you or anything, your doctor might just not want to concordat with that. I've hear of people one able to carry it off-label, though your insurance probably wouldn't cover it.

If you can't get it, I've also hear that it's in clinical trials to formulate it available to women over 26 (as well as men, fancy that!) So, hopefully you'll hold some luck!

I think i may hold PCOS..what now?

The Gardasil vaccine can be use up to age 26. Some doctors are not giving the vaccine due to the restricted coverage of some insurance companies. Call your insurance company and see if the Gardasil vaccine will be covered at 100%. If your insurance covers the vaccine check with other doctors within your area that own the vaccine and will give it to you. Check Planned Parenthood they may also enjoy a supply of the vaccine. Gardasil cost about $120.00 per shot. They are three to the series.

The Gardasil vaccine prevents two low risk HPV types 6 and 11 and two illustrious risk HPV types 16 and 18. It does not treat the HPV types we have already acquire.

A second vaccine Cervarix for Cervical Cancer has asked the FDA for its approval. Clinical trails for this vaccine own been done to age 55. I hold provided a recent article on this vaccine. I have read where on earth the FDA should approve this vaccine by years end. I am not sure what age band the FDA will recommend for this vaccine and what the cost will be.

I wish you very well.
