Do tampons stop the flow whilst swimming?

I have be invited to a friends house to relax in her hottub, but unfortunately I'm on, and I really want to be in motion. Normally a tampon works while I'm swimming, but will it work in a hot tub? Please help!! I dont want any embarrasing leakeages!
