What is best for my mother, who have arthritis and is currently taking methotrexate?

so my mother has arthritis, and is taking methotrexate.
is this the best item that she can be taking?
she wants to know if at hand are any other medications she can appropriate that dont have as abundant side effects, as she is getting upset stomachs and has vomited seriously since taking it for the first time last week.
she also say that she cant smell anything, because it makes her unsettled.
is this normal? will the symptoms stir away soon, or are they only affecting her?

I take methotraxe and it doesn't generate me sick, maybe she should ask the dr. if she can pilfer a lower dosage. I also take a remicade treatment which is a totally low dose for me. all medicine have side affects and the doses can be changed to aid her not to be sick. I take three methotrexate a week. I hold a remicade treatment every 8 weeks. I have come such a long instrument from where I come from. I no longer have anguish, I can run now if I want to. your mom desires to talk to her dr. more and research this concern more. I feel great! Good Luck!

Green tea component may abet fight cancer, untried study shows

A new study from a university within Spain shows that a chemical in green tea can be helpful surrounded by the fight against cancer. The chemical set as EGCG attaches to a specific enzyme in cancer cell and prevents the cancer from growing. "We have shown for the first time that EGCG, which is present within green tea at relatively high concentrations, inhibits the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR), which is a customary, established target for anti-cancer drugs, " Professor Roger Thorneley, of JIC, told Reuters.
"This is the first time, to our knowledge, a agreed target for an anti-cancer drug has be identified as being inhibited by EGCG," he added.
It decrease rates of certain cancer but scientists were not sure what compounds be involved or how they worked.
Thorneley said EGCG is probably just one of several anti-cancer mechanisms contained by green tea.
This means we may be capable of develop new anti-cancer drugs base on the structure of the EGCG molecule," Thorneley explained.
"We discovered that EGCG can kill cancer cell in matching way as methotrexate," Dr Jose Neptuno Rodriguez-Lopez, of UMU, a pooled author of the research published in the publication Cancer Research.
EGCG binds strongly to DHFR, which is essential in both healthy and cancerous cell.
But it does not bind as tightly as methotrexate, so its side effects on healthy cell could be less severe than those of the drug.
Thorneley said EGCG could be a front compound for new anti-cancer drugs.
The findings could also explain why women who drink ample amounts of green tea around the time they conceive and early within their pregnancy may have an increased risk of have a child with spina bifida or other neural tube disorders.
Women are advise to take supplements of folic bitter because it protects against spina bifida.
But large amounts of green tea could stop the effectiveness of folic tart.

She wishes to call her doc and report these side effects. Her doc have NO CLUE that she is having side effects if she doesn't beckon and tell him/ her. Have her send for now if the department is open and report adjectives of this to the docs nurse. He may want to change or adjust her meds right away. I guess I don't get the message how people beside side effects can assume that this is ok and that the doc knows this. Docs are not mind reader so you have to ring and tell them what is going on.

She should be talking to her doctor. My husband have been taking methotrexate for 6 years and does exceptionally well on it. He does so okay that he refused to give Humira to the plan. Everyone he knows who go to Humira did not do so well, even though they be OK on methotrexate. She should be seeing a rheumatologist. And if she just started ultimate week, she needs to donate it a while longer. She can help the upset stomach by ingestion before taking the methotrexate, never hold it on an empty stomach. Everybody react to medications differently and what works for one personage may not work for others.
