http://www.divacup.com/?gclid=CMCDyY7Vjp...

What are the pros and cons of this product? I'm considering getting one because I despise my periods and it's very embarrasing when you hold a tampon in and your taking a shower in front of other girls contained by the locker room. Anyway if you have used this product could you tell me what it be like? I've heard nil but good things about it and be asking for another opinion. Thank you!

Answers:    Pros;

o Healthy and safe.
Menstrual cups allow your vagina to function as it would as a rule, self-cleaning and keeping the walls of the vagina moist to protect from infection and damage. As menstrual cups are made from either medical level silicone or natural gum rubber it means in that is no where for bacteria to multiply. Menstrual cups do not contain synthetics, chemicals, additives or bleaches which mechanism no increased risk of infection or long-term health problems. This is put into direct comparison with tampon condition risks, because of their affect on the vagina and chemical treatment tampons put women at high risk of everything from vaginal infections to TSS, vaginal splitting to cancer. Unlike tampons menstrual cups have never cause or contributed to a death. Menstrual cups have never be associated with TSS or any other health problem. Many women also reports lowered menstrual flow, bloating and cramping when switching from tampons to menstrual cups.

o Clean.
Allowing the vagina to self-clean as it would as a rule and not giving bacteria a place to multiply means that the vaginal environment is no different next to a menstrual cup in as it would be without a menstrual cup contained by. Menstrual cups are sanitary like all other menstrual option but they can also be sterilised. They take nothing to verbs, soap and water is all that is to say needed. Personally I recommend emptying in the shower, in particular when first getting used to the menstrual cup this makes things easier. If you find you have to forsaken in a public bathroom you can carry a wet bottle, wipes, use toilet paper or simply reinsert without risk.

o Convenient.
Menstrual cups can be worn safely and in need leaks for up to 12 hours at a time, this includes from a very standard lamp flow to very heavy flow, you can use them until that time your period is due to avoid being caught in need protection, you can wear them safely at night, you can wear them to treaty with excessive discharge. Menstrual cups are also perfect for sports as they do not effect cramps or bloating, they are reliable and nothing shows on the outside of your body, they also don’t absorb fluids making them great for swimming. You never inevitability to carry spares, never risk running out, and don’t have to verbs about disposal. You also don’t have to constantly fine-tuning absorbencies or worry about condition risks.

o Cheap.
One menstrual cup will cost you around $35, cheaper if you shop around and depending on what brand you choose. I figured out last week that if I have still been using tampons and pads it would enjoy cost me lb20,000 over ten years; where as my menstrual cup only cost me lb17, which is a hell of a positive. Most menstrual cup brands offer money back guarantees so you can try them and if for you then you can get adjectives your money back, so you have nought to loose in trying them – oh, plus if one brand doesn’t work for you it means you can try another one in need having to pay twice!

o Environmentally friendly.
A woman will use 12,000-16,000 tampons or pad in her lifetime; a menstrual cup lasts for up to 10 years so that cuts down on profoundly of waste being put into landfills or blocking up our sewage systems and culmination up on our beaches unable to biodegrade. Manufacturing of commercial tampons and pad means the use of non-organic cotton and synthetic materials made from a small percentage of the wood forested for the purpose, these materials are then chemically treated which add to pollution, and the extra energy required for these unnecessary treatments results in increased CO2 emission.

o Body-positive.
Commercial tampon and pad companies make money by recitation women to feel ashamed or embarrassed by their period, menstrual cup companies don’t – in fact when they advertise the Keeper on TV last year it was the most body-positive woman-positive advert I have ever seen. The companies are normally women-run/women-owned body-positive companies, the solely one I know which is ran by a man is the UK Instead (softcups) company, and he is a total sweetie. The companies also have thoroughly good customer service; they are always available to supply advice. Menstrual cups are more hands-on too, some people suppose this means messy, it doesn’t, it means human being more in touch with your length, and honestly it’s pretty damn interesting.

There are a lot of pros, for me personally my Mooncup http://www.mooncup.co.uk be a life-saver, I have excessively heavy period and in my teens I would have to use super-plus tampons and hours of darkness time pads, I would still leak after in the order of 15 minutes and I am actually heavier now so I literally would not know how to leave the house now in need having a menstrual cup. I have never leak while using my menstrual cup, apart from at night but that is to be expected, it’s great because when they are full you can somehow discern it is full, at worst you get pink discharge coming through so you have plenty of time to meaningless before it starts to actually seepage – it’s not like the wave of menstrual flow you grasp when a tampon leaks. While using tampons and pads I also have chronic vaginal infections, since using a menstrual cup I haven’t had any infections at all, furthermore it is more comfortable as in a minute I don’t have the tampon strings cutting through my labia. I bought a menstrual cup as soon as I hear about them, it’s been over 5 years very soon since I first bought one and already have my next one in place for when I need it, a Ladycup http://www.ladycup.com through discovering menstrual cups it inspired me to look for more information, to find out what else I did not know about my body, from that I become a menstrual fighter and have started on the road to a job in sexual health – so it be actually life-changing. I just devise they are great, recommend them to everyone, and still love using mine.

As for cons, to be honest I don’t think any menstrual cup user will really come up with copious cons and the ones that you can come up with are rare care where a person’s personal ideas or experiences come into play, not issues near the menstrual cups themselves.

Cons;

o They are more hands-on, which some women are uncomfortable with.
o They can be difficult to gain your head around at first, all unusual ideas are, insertion can seem problematic as menstrual cups seem to be large (in fact they aren’t much bigger than tampons and your vagina can more than toy with it) and because they may pop open a lot at first. You draw from time to try them and you can try on dry-runs, but it is easier to do when menstruating and trying different folding methods – sometimes women loose grip of their menstrual cup and it goes flying. Removal has similar problems, wondering for the firs time how the hell to go and get the cup out without splitting anything, again you get over this contained by time and best done in the shower at first to avoid mess (menstrual cups aren’t normally messy, but own the potential to be if you loose your grip or slip). Using a menstrual cup becomes like second personality.
o Some women feel discomfort, we are all different, although most women articulate they are very comfortable some women can feel pressure on their rectum or urethra, other women find the suction is too strong.

I should also sort a note to the brand you linked to, Divacup, they are one of the bigger and better prearranged brands, they offer a 12 month money back guarantee which is longer than any other brand offer, they are silicone so this means that they are easier to keep verbs and see menstrual flow, and they don’t leave any taste or smell contained by your vagina as rubber ones can. Cons of the Divacup are that they are one of the larger and less flexible brands, this may not be a problem for you at all, but if you return with one and it is a problem I recommend the Mooncup or the Ladycup – Ladycup are actually the smallest and most flexible menstrual cup brand available. I would recommend you go to the menstrual cup support community too http://www.menstrualcups.org contained by their memories section on the right you will find lots of useful information on use, different brands, problems, reviews, and so on..
i've never have one but have read a lot something like them because I want to get one when i'm older but I regard as one of the few cons would be getting it in there right. Which wouldn't be a problem after a while.

They give the impression of being so much better than the conventional products it's amazing that you don't hear a lot about them.
