I have been on the pill for just about 6 years now.I have hear that after 6 years you should go off it. But Im unsuspecting! Is this true? What can happen if you stay on it for too long and how long is too long? Thanks!

I've been on the pill (various types) on and bad for 21 years. They adjust the type/dose as my body needs.

I'm 40 and I'm still on it.

As far as I know, there is no medical necessitate to go off of birth control after a reliable period of time. I've been on BC for four years, and my doc merely wrote me another year prescription without a word about "you'll entail to go off this soon." So, I'm pretty sure you can stay on it indefinitely. If you're worried, telephone up your GYN and ask. It's a simple question that she should be able to answer over the phone.
