first of all i am not sexually active so it cant be an std or anything. For in the order of 5 months now i have have this strong odor and yellow-ish discharge. What could it be? And what happens if an infection isn't treated???

Answers:    Def Yeast infection. Dont worry every woman get them. Yuo can get them from wearing too tight oants , bathing with the wrong soaps , using sceneted soaps , etc..

All you do is turn to the store (Walgreens , CVS etc) and pick up Monistat 1 day treatment and some Vagisil.

The instructions will tell you how to use it.

Bathing beside summer's eve helps alot to!

If its not treated it will turn into a fungus! Something you dont want! Its just approaching bacteria that can get worse save taken care of!

=].
it is definitely a bacterial infection, that's why monistat is ruined. It happens when the normal Bacteria growth is thrown bad causing you to produce "unhealthy bacteria"( adjectives bacteria is not unhealthy it is run of the mill to have a little" If you use nt spray or any ody wash that have too much perfume in it. You will need to gynecologists end in if not it could turn in to PID, five months is instrument to long I would say a yeast infection. And left untreated they can produce damage to your reproduction organs. Go get some Monistat and try it and see if it works, if go to the docter
