Ovarian cyst laparotomy?
My gyno said it looks like a dermoid and that it is probably benign, the simply reason she referred me to the oncologist be due to its size.
I have no symptoms or anguish. And I am hoping for a Laporoscpy!
BUT she told me that due to its size a Laporotomy might have to be done instead! What does this parsimonious? I know its a larger incision, but just how much more Recovery time is needed after a laporotomy?
Will I know how to drive? Sex? Does anyone have any personal experience? Please le tme know I'm sooo timorous!
I'm also 23 yrs old.
Answers: I have a laparotomy to remove an ovary & fallopian tube, due to a cyst that torted, & i have also have a few laparoscopies too.
The laparoscopies, you spend 1 day within hospital, you will have conceivably 1 or 2 stitches. It takes around only a week to seize over & you can drive as soon as the anaesthetic has worn past its sell-by date. With a laparotomy you stay in hospital for 3 days & hold alot of internal stitching as well as external. You cannot drive, move up anything or do most things for at least six weeks & you have a feeling very sore & discomfited for at least 2 weeks. The defect looks horrible to start with but bit by bit becomes only just noticable.
Kim W - I had mine 15 yrs ago, when i be about 27. I be rushed to hospital & operated on as an emergency 3 days then. The cyst had torted, twisted the ovary & fallopian tube & cut sour the blood supply to my uterus. I have never feel pain resembling it before, & i have already given birth to 3 children ! . I had introvenous local anaesthetic for the 3 days before op & that merely took the sharp edge past its sell-by date of the pain.
I have a larger incision to remove a cyst and an ovary, for ovarian torsion. Its more painful ( demonstrably!) when you wake up and does embezzle you longer to recover from. I would pinch about 3 weeks past its sell-by date after as you feel tired seriously. Dont work too soon, i went rear to school after 2 weeks and it be a big mistake!
Its all fine, i be really nervous too but the deformity will be below your bikini line so not a soul will ever see it! :P You can drive 6 weeks after and as for sex, well..guessing when you touch up to it! But it might be a while. You will probaly be in hospital for just about 5-7 days after as you cant get out of bed for a couple of days. But really dont nouns yourself.
Dont worry nearly it, it will all be fine. My scar are fading really in good health now, when here all heal you can use scar weakening creams.
Take care, xxx
Okay -- purloin everything TW said, and pretend I said it too, because the exact same thing happen to me. My recovery time be a little quicker, but otherwise it's one and the same story.
TW -- wow. You're the first person I've met who's also have ovarian torsion. Weird, wasn't it?
