For women and matured men: hygeine question- own you ever or do you regularly...?

use a douche?
if so how often?
why?
do you have a sneaking suspicion that the vagina is self cleaning?

i know women who use only after or during menses
i know women who use everytime they hold sex sometimes before as economically as after
i think the vag is self cleaning if not there would be no menses

your answers/ opinion please

Answers:    In my human sexuality class an OB/GYN just talk to us about the vaginal and vulva, both are self cleaning if you become aware of an odor or whitish build up (called Smegma) just mop up gently near soap and water. Douches are not essential and it is NOT recommended to use a douche for any reason unless prescribed for a medical purpose by your doctor.

The slight clear/whitish discharge that you may observe day to time is your vagina's way of cleaning itself. Your vulva sweats and producese oil thereby cleansing itself, and the whitish build up you may notice, smegma, is merely a collection of unresponsive skin cells, sweat, and grease from your body
The menstrual cycle is the body cleansing itself. Your last comment is wrong. i one-sidedly think the vagina is self cleaning. Although i enjoy considered using a douche, just to see what happen... :)

have you ever used a douche? if so, does it "work"?
I own used a douche but the vagina is self cleaning and douching is not necessary as told by my doctor. (I'm a man)
I don't know. I know that currently (it seem medical wisdom shifts every time you turn around, so anything...) the conventional wisdom is that you don't involve to do it.
But you know, you can take this "it's natural" entity to mean anything; it's perverted to brush your teeth, shower, etc. either, right?
But we still do it.

If I have to guess, I'd say that a woman should do it occasionally, especially if she's have weird discharge problems, yeast infections, etc., but not do it adjectives the time.

If it were really totally self cleaning, afterwards you wouldn't have discharge problems that adjectives women have, right? Obviously, the "raw way" isn't always taking trouble of business, so probably need a bit of serve occasionally.
Your body has it's own cleaning system. Just shower regularly. If a douche is impracticable correctly they can be dangerous I believe the vagina is self cleaning and douches bring more harm than appropriate. I soak in a tub full of hot dampen after each menstruation and this works for me.
Yes, I believe the vagina is self-cleaning. I also believe that the vulva should be cleaned beside only wet - no soaps.

Menstruation is not necessarily the vagina cleaning itself, if that's what you're implying. It's the shedding of the uterine pool liner (or endometrium).

The vagina cleans itself by releasing certain fluids that contain a specific pH and bacterial be a foil for. This balance fight off unpromising bacteria and odor, and it also prevents yeast from growing contained by the vagina.

Douching can wash away these apposite bacteria and throw stale the proper pH balance contained by the vagina. It can also cause desperate bacteria to be pushed farther into the vagina, up toward the cervix, which can effect it to enter the uterus. The vagina and cervix protect the uterus with the mucous and fluid to be exact secreted. They help to push desperate bacteria down and out of the vagina, and douching can disrupt this pure process.
