For older women only. How did you know you reached menopause?

I'm 49 and have regular period similar to clockwork, until roughly speaking a year ago. Then my time come every other month. Then I have severe, sore and bulky period two months within a row.... Then I haven't have a length for almost three months. Is that it? Is it over? Have I reach menopause? I be expecting something more dramatic. Anyone diligence to share their experiences?
