41 weeks preg,epidural?

I'm 41 weeks preg departed my due date,I be a short time ago wondering if anybody know when is the right time to request an epidural?I'm likely to satnd the twinge but a short time ago surrounded by baggage I can't I be thinking on getting the epi although I've hear that is to say "bad".
