An IUD is NOT suitable for a teen aged girl. It should simply be used by women contained by a monogamous relationship because the IUD keep the cervix amenable and leaves the woman more susceptible to infections.

I use an IUD and love it but I am pretty sure your won't find a gyn to place one in a teen aged girl.

I GOT THE IUD LAST YEAR, I NEVER EVER CRAMP UP DURING MY PERIODS SO I THOUGHT I COULD HANDLE THE CRAMPING THAT IS SUPPOSED TO GO ALONG WITH IT. NO WAAAAYYY. I WOULD CRAMP UP SOOOO BAD I HAD TO GO PUT MY DAUGHTER IN HER CRIB AND JUST CURL UP. I HAD IT REMOVED THE NEXT TIME MY PERIOD CAME. NOT ONLY THAT, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE WONDERING IF ITS IN THE RIGHT PLACE OR HAS IT MOVED? AND IF IT HAS, AM I STILL PROTECTED? DONT GET IT, I GET THE SHOT, I GO EVERY 3 MONTHS AND FORGET ABOUT IT IN BETWEEN. AND IT DOESNT MAKE YOU GAIN WEIGHT. I WOULD DEFINATELY NOT RECOMMEND THE IUD. NOT ONLY THE CRAMPS BUT IF THEY PENETRATE THE UTERUS BY ACCIDENT, THATS AN AUTOMATIC HISTORECTOMY. AND YOUR TOO YOUNG
