I would get it checked because pain/bleeding related to ovulation is roughly approx a week after the first day of your later period.Could be hormones, if you're on the pill, break though bleeding or spotting, but ovarian cysts can also create the bleeding you describe. Endometriosis is another possibility. Sometimes is is just in short supply corpus luteum function which may go away on its own.
If you're really concerned progress to the Dr, just to improve your mind!
