Anyone have a colposcopy?

I have to hold a colposcopy in two weeks as I a short time ago tested positive for HPV. I have be doing some research and am a little over-sensitive. Do they only do a colposcopy because they guess cells are precancerous or cancerous? Is it of late a precautionary procedure to make sure you DON'T enjoy cancer?

Sex?

A colposcopy is a way for them to run a closer look at cells that may be problematic-generally pre-cancerous cell. The doctor will use a special microscope or video camera to get a more up close look at your cervix. He or she will probably paint it near a vinegar solution which changes the color of cell that may be pre-cancerous, take a closer look at them and may thieve a sample of them using a biopsy syringe to send out for further analysis. You may enjoy discharge from the solution painted on your cervix, and the stuff they use to stop bleeding from your cervix if they biopsy it for a few days. You'll need to use pad rather than tampons to involve the discharge, and you'll need to avoid intercourse or stir that might have someone inserting things into your vagina for a while-your doctor will advocate you as to how long.

The colposcopy itself shouldn't hurt, though the biopsy might, if they do that. Some people find that it's frightfully painful, and they prefer to nick an over the counter pain murderer before the appointment, while others don't. Again, consult beside your doctor's office to see what they insist on patients to do.

(Apparently, I have an insanely lofty pain tolerance since I didn't steal pain killer before my colposcopy, and took two tylenol after, and still don't reason it's the most painful experience of my time or anything like that. It be a sharp, momentary pain that go away quickly after the actual preview was taken, so I would suggest that you forget about my experience since it seems to be to some extent different from what other people hold described to me.)

Keep in mind that the cause of an abnormal pap smear are sundry, and are not necessarily HPV, though that's probably the most common grounds. Sometimes it's just odd cells that grew funny and aren't a problem, sometimes it's HPV, sometimes it's other kind of infections or having sex or other buzz too close to when the pap smear was taken.

I hope it adjectives works out okay for you.

If you have cancer, you would have already be sent to a gyn oncologist, someone who specializes in cervical cancer. Testing positive for HPV individual means that you're at better risk for cancer b/c some times of HPV causes cervical cancer. The colposcopy allows the doctors to pilfer a closer look at the abnormal cell of your cervix. It's really a type of biospy that will show if the cells are becoming more run of the mill and the hpv infection is resolving or if the cells are still nonstandard or more abnormal. If they are abn they may do further conducting tests.

Understand that it's the slowest cancer. Think of it like a cold. You can hold the flu and your body can fight it bad in a week. Some types of HPV can rationale cervical infection, but resolve in a year so they keep checking to cause sure cancer doesn't develop.

Contraceptive Methods?

I also tested positive for HPV (type 16,18) last year, my pap smear be abnormal and my doctor have the colposcopy done. Colposcopy is a way for your doctor to use a special magnify device to look at your vulva, vagina, and cervix. If a problem is seen during colposcopy, a small preview of tissue (biopsy) may be taken from the cervix or from inside the opening of the cervix (endocervical canal). The example is looked at under a microscope.During colposcopy, your doctor uses a lighted magnify device that looks like a double act of binoculars (colposcope). The colposcope allows your doctor to see problems that would be missed by the naked eye. Your doctor may put vinegar (acetic acid) and sometimes iodine (Lugol's solution) on the vagina and cervix next to a cotton swab or cotton balls to see problem areas more clearly.
It s not aching, just humiliated. You may bleed slightly
Get a pap smear done every six months. My pap smears are normal in a minute, but I still test positive for HPV. HPV is really adjectives, many folks don’t know they have it because near often are no signs or symptoms. For most women, HPV clears on its own.
Good luck and give somebody a lift care.

A reliable alternative to the pill?

I own had a colposcopy. And everything that IK said is true. Basically, your HPV interview came pay for abnormal and immediately they are going to go in with a microscope and look to see if they can find the aim why. They are looking for precancerous cells. If they find something that looks unusual, they are going to pinch it off. Then they will convey that little piece of abnormality off to the lab and question paper it. And in my satchel, my colposcopy came rear abnormal. That basically meant that they found precancerous cell. So after that procedure, I had to own a Cryoablation procedure in which they have to go surrounded by and freeze the precancerous cells next to liquid nitrogen. Then after the Cryo, I have to have 3 middle-of-the-road pap smears in a row inwardly a years time. So I had to turn back something like every four months. If all three pap smears come put money on normal, after that particular HPV virus or precancerous cell are gone. After the procedures there may be for a moment blood and discharge but you can not use a tampon. Nor can you have sex for a bit while after. Basically it means do not stick anything up nearby for a couple of weeks. Both procedures are uncomfortable but they will be over in the past you know it. You may have a bit cramping after the colposcopy. Good Luck and I hope everything turns out for the better!

What age were you the first time you go to the gynecologist?

My pap came vertebrae abnormal so they programmed me for a colposcopy. Testing positive for HPV is also a reason they programme one because HPV affects the tissue around the cervix. They need to check and see if you are okay. They will use a vinegar solution on a long cotton swab and rub it over the cervix and surrounding nouns. Then they will light it up next to the colposcope. They can see any abnormal tissue near it.

I also had HPV. They go in for the colposcopy, found some anomalous tissue, and did a few biopsies which came pay for positiove for dysplasia. Then a few weeks later they perform the LEEP procedure (which removes the tip of the cervix). The colposcopy is a real lifesaver. I enjoy no signs of cancer and my sister who opted not to hold her pap for three years ended up have a radical hysterectomy at 30 due to cervical cancer - cause by HPV.

Don't be nervous. The procedure itself is no more self-conscious than a pelvic exam.
