I didn't carry my period until I be 14 1/2, mainly because I be active plentifully, and I didn't weigh much before. I've hear that if you gain an extreme amount of weight within a short amount of time, then that's a sign that you would catch it. Many signs include developing breasts, pubic hair, creating discharge, armpit fleece becomes more noticable, sometimes urges approaching being 'horney', hormonal change, voice changes, acne, developing bigger hips (in other words, developing more curves), stage growth slows down a bit, etc.
