Does "normal" discharge hold a smell?

i wear panty liners and my monthly is due within just over a week so i know my hormones are shifting right now but when it approaches that time of the month my discharge get a little bit smellier. does anyone else experience this? not fishy or anything a short time ago a slight scent.
