Will it hurt to use over the counter med for a yeast infection?

I'm pretty sure that's what wrong with me, but not 100%. Me and my partner own recently be having seriously more sex than usual and i'm not used to it, so i may merely be a bit irritated, but it's been 4 days or so and i'm still sore and a bit itchy. Should I a short time ago go buy something over the counter for yeast infections or should i see my doctor first?
