A pap smear is when the doctor will stick a speculum inside of you to look at your cervix. They will then pinch a little broom/brush and brush the inside of your cervix outstandingly quickly. These cell are collected (usually into a liquid sometimes on a slide) and sent to a cytology lab to check for any type of cervical cancer. Usually the doctor will manually check breasts too for any lumps or anything unusual.

A pap smear is a special type of test specifically done with a special brush to pinch some cells from your cervix. They consequently put that on a slide that gets sent to a lab to check for the possibility of cervical cancer. If the exam shows that the cells are one step below cancer or what they appointment precancerous then it allows for previously treatment to keep it from becoming actual cancer.
