My friend had a pap and she was told she had no endocervical cells. what does that mean?

Answers:

endometriosis?

The presence of endocervical cells on a Pap smear is an indication that the smear included sampling of the cervical waterway and, by inference, the squamo-columnar junction. If endocervical cell are not seen, it may mingy the the sample be not high plenty in the cervical waterway.

Some physicians feel that any Pap minus endocervical cells should be repeated. However, studies hold demonstrated that Paps without endocervical cell are still very powerful in detecting abnormality.
