Why does Planned Parenthood assume I use Birth Control Pills for Contraception?
They have me fill 5 pages of papers asking my sexual history. (I am not sexually involved.)
How come they don't ask history of your menstrual periods? They don't ask if they are heavy or if you hold pain along them. How come there are question asking if you have STDs but no questions asking if you hold Endometriosis or other various menstruation conditions?
They just assume I use it for contraception, even though I said I use it for Endometriosis.
Answers: Because the majority of women on birth control are trying to prevent pregnancy. I get on birth control for regulate my periods and wasn't having sex any. Just try to explain your reasons before padding out paperwork. Planned Parenthood focuses on just that "planned parenthood" without getting an surprise pregnancy. It sucks that it isn't for everyone but I guess that is just the style it is..
The same thing happened to me at the gynecologist. No issue how much I said I was only taking them to regulate my time of year and for acne they kept on talking to me how abstinance is the safest way and asking just about my sexual history even though I have not been sexually busy. I don't know. I think it's just cut of their duty to ask us all of this. because it's Planned Parenthood not Planned Menstruation or Planned Endometriosis
Their agenda is to prevent pregnancies or abort them, not provide gynecological exams or medical services.
I think adjectives they care about is society not getting pregnant.
I went before because b/c be too expensive. mine was to regulate my period. they asked me one and the same questions even though i told them i was a virgin. .
very well the intent of birth control is to keep from getting pregnant so they assume that anyone that want bcp..thats their reason. I know...it is unbelievably frustrating because im on bcp because irregular periods and when i go to the doc and the ask me if i pinch any pills they jus assume that im taking it because im trying to not get pregnant.
Docs and nurses should understand that NOT everyone is on bcp because their sexually helpful...whenever they tell me to keep taking so i wont win pregnant i automatically tell them im taking it for hormonal reasons not because im sexually stirring then they change their attitude and tone.
I estimate they are just so used to people coming to them for birth control that they assume specifically why you are there as well. Certainly birth control pills can be used to treat endometriosis as all right as irregular periods. The questionnaire I filled out (years ago) at Planned Parenthood did ask question about my menstrual cycle. I wonder if they've stopped???
Anyway, they used to bug me because I have singular had one partner (my husband) and they kept asking, "Are you sure?" (as if I were lying). I can with the sole purpose assume they are trying their best to reach a broad demographic, and some of us minorities slip through the cracks. Don't take it individually.
