What is the best birth control for a teen girl?
Answers: Please do not put your girl on depo provera. Many women suffer horrible form issues because of it.
If you think she will remember, get her on the pill.
Or the patch/ring.
But not the shot.
.
Put her on a low dose birth control pill. Low dose doesn't connote the pill isn't as effective, it means that in that isn't a great deal of hormones in it. Look for something that's be on the market for a long time because the newer pills still have "bugs" to be worked on. I be on yasmine and it made my cramps worse, made me feel like I have to throw up and gave me horrible mood swings. I'm on a generic version of Lo Orval (generic journal is Junel Fe 1/20). It's been around for a long time because my mom was on it when she be my age and that was 23 years ago. I've been on the generic copy for 6 months and have been doing fine and haven't have any bad side effects. Using the pill with a condom is hugely protective against pregnant. I would have to say the depo shot that approach she does not have to worry just about forgetting a pill. If it where my child I would tell her that if she is going to be sexually busy she would have to deal near a slight weight gain. Pills also can make you gain so thats a randomness she may have to take. Its better after teen pregnancy..
You should take her to the doctor since they will determine what's best for her after taking her history and asking her everything else they need to know. But ask them to make a contribution her something that has a lower amount of hormones since they are usually the safest. I took the Depo Provera shot for about 1.5 years and only just came off it to walk on the Pill. I had no adverse reactions approaching weight gain. My gynecologist swears that it's the best for most young women.$.
Read everything surrounded by http://www.menstrual-cycle.info and you would be able to advice your daughter better. Even you can distribute this web info to her.
Be Healthy and Happy! i personally do not believe within using medicinal birth control because of the risks, such as gaining wait(which face it, you can't blame her-no one requirements to gain wait, lol!) and hormonal damage. i close friend of mine is ineradicably unable to get pregnant because of the (hormonal)birth control she be on-the side effects were very throaty to her to put it lightly. on top of that, i do enjoy very strict values on
artificial chemicals that are used unnecessarily.
keeping that in mind-
i suggest you look into an i.u.d.
it's a small plastic piece shaped similar to a 'T' that is inserted into the uterus through the cervix(they will probably do this during her period because her cervix will be slightly enlarge then.)
this form of birth control is different than most others because it does not trick your body into thinking it's pregnant.--
it irritates the uterine walls which keeps the egg from implant.
the chances of wait gain are greatly minimal(almost zero), though they are still present as with any form of birth control.
certain types of i.u.d.'s could bring her periods to be heavier (the worst side effect in my opinion). ask her doctor, he'll oblige you out here..
it is also different because unlike most forms of b.c, if later(when she's older!) if she decides she requests a baby, her ability to obtain pregnant will begin again almost the instant the i.u.d. is removed.
it's safer and effective for up to 10 years, tho i'm not to sure she'll want to keep hold of it that long.
the only other major concern is personal belief. some folks believe life begins at the time of conception-if you do, this is not for you, since the egg will most promising get fertilized. the i.u.d. simply keeps the fertilized egg from implant. so it is "lost."
