My doctor just perscribed me ortho tri-cylce to regulate my periods. Right presently my periods last something like 7-8 days and are very heavy. I am really looking forward to have shorter periods but i heard that beside this birth control it only makes them lighter but they stay matching amount of days, is this true?

I specifically asked for that the last time I was on birth control and like it better then the others I had tried back. My normal period at that time be very heavy and last about 8 days, and on Ortho Tri-Cylen my period simply lasted 3-4 days and I had individual one day of slightly moderate flow.
