Answers: Staph (staphylococcus) is a normal bacteria that lives on the body: surrounded by particular areas, it usually lives without cause any problems (armpit, groin etc). It is possible to 'infect' yourself, through touching yourself without having wash your hands properly, for example.
Edit:
It is actually possible to die of a staph infection: it's what cause toxic shock syndrome. But that is an extremely rare condition, usually associated beside tampon use, and is not indicated by 'burning' when urinating. Believe me, if you had TSS, you and your doctor would both know about it: and you wouldn't be premonition well enough to write on here..
