Pretty much every girl goes to a gynecologist eventually, usually starting around age 18 or so, and going every year for an annual exam. I understand how you quality, that it's not something to be embarrassed about, but that it's manner of uncomfortable or awkward. It probably won't seem as discouraging when you go when you're older, and it really is beneficial to trade name sure you're healthy. I would recommend going to a female doctor; it make it seem more comfortable for me.

You do not have to shift, but to be safe and make sure you hold no problems it is recommended. It is nothing to be concerned about as the OB/GYN have gone through many years of school to swot everything about your body and become as professional as they can.
If you are overly concerned then try and find a feminine OB/GYN and that should make it more comfortable for you.
