Hi everyone - I got a copper IUD put surrounded by 3 weeks ago and the strings are really long and my partner is suffering a lot. The doc said they would verbs up after a month but it's been 3 weeks and they are still poky. I can get the impression the strings when my index finger is inserted to the middle knuckle. My partner is really sensitive so we've been unqualified to have sex for 3 weeks, features of causing some issues. Anyway, I believe my strings are too long but I am not sure if I should get them cut shorter or not. It sounds approaching cutting them really short can bring them to become even pokier? Any thoughts/suggestions people hold would be VERY appreciated. :)

Answers:    My doctor offered to shorten mine. But after the first month or so my husband never noticed the string. It in truth got moved up further inside. I get freaked but I was fine. It take some getting used to but if they bother him or you, get the strings trimmed. It probably wont acquire pokier/pointier.

I just have the MIrena put in at my 6 wk postnatal call on and apparently my uterus is low and the strings were poking me at the entrance to my vagina, I have them trim them down, but they said they could only trim them for a moment because if they cut them too short, they would poke my husband. They told me to do kegel exercises to strengthen my pelvic floor therefore lifting my uterus vertebrae up some and in turn the strings would be further. Good Luck.
