Its slightly uncomfortable, but it shouldnt hurt. (the more uptight you are nearly the the more uncomfortable you'll find it)It only take a few minutes and most of that is the nurse talking to relax you a bit.
The worst point about it is the embarrassment but they set free lives so 2 minutes embarrassment is worth it. Relax and grin (grimace) and bear it.

The doctor will insert the speculum and use it to open your cervix. This doesn't hurt, it's lately a little uncomfortable. Close your eyes and breathe and pretend you're somewhere else.
Then the doc will use a long q-tip similar to thing to swab your insides lightly and vigorously, just to take a token of the cells to check that all is capably.
Then out comes the speculum and it's over in 2 minutes.
He/she will likely next use a gloved, lubed hand to insert two fingers to check for abnormalities. While doing this, the doc will also plausible feel on top of your tummy at the same time.
And that's it for the pelvic exam!
If it makes you perceive more comfortable, ask that a nurse be present during the exam.

I'm 18, too, and I had to have my first one a few months fund, in December.
I was super easily upset, but the doctor made me feel more at ease.
Depending on which state you live contained by, make sure they know your age, since breast exams are usually done at the same time, but here 18 is too immature to have one done for legal reason.

It's a very quick procedure, and for girls our age they will largely use a smaller, plastic speculum to minimize discomfort.
The doctor will have you lie hindmost and before you know it, you're done.

When you stand up, though, is when it gets a touch uncomfortable because of all the jelly they use to construct it smoother. I would suggest finding a bathroom quickly. :]

Hi, No it does not hurt at all. Just relax and it will be fine. Think of it more as you are going to lug care of your health. It is so influential that you become responsible for your health and I applaud you for taking the first step. Women who put it off and never turn regret it. Don't worry, it won't hurt. The worst that will surface is some light cramping after wards, and that usually lately happens after your first one, or if you haven't had one within a lot of years.It'll be a little strange ... they'll put a speculum within there, which will be cold and metal. But it shouldn't hurt. And it shouldn't take long. Relax ... it will be easier for your doctor if you're relaxed. If you're humiliated you can ask for a nurse to come in and hold your hand. You'll own a sheet over you, so the doctor will be the only one who can see. Really ... lots of people are timorous, they should understand. But there really isn't anything to be fidgety about.
And it won't take long at adjectives.
Remember that all women have like peas in a pod thing done. It's very routine.

DON'T go look at the youtube videos of it, as another user suggested. I've have many of these done, but have never see that end of it. And from that end it looks much more unpleasant than it in truth is. If you want to see the video, watch it AFTER you come home from the doctor's.

It is rather discomfited. It isn't fun but it shouldn't hurt. If you have someone that is doing it right it should in recent times feel a little discomfited. If you feel any pain give an account the doctor and they should use a smaller (I don't know what to call it. it looks like a ducts beak.LOL ) But save for that it shouldn't hurt...It only takes a minute or two and after your done for a year..It takes about 2 minutes. It doesnt hurt at adjectives. They use a lot of KY jelly though so it feels goey and you will want to progress to the bathroom after to try to wipe some off. All you feel is a touch pressure, like if you were sitting on a bike form sorta?
