During what stage of the menstrual cycle is the corpus luteum formed?

Answers:    The corpus luteum is formed during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. It is formed from the ovarian follicle during ovulation. It remains in the ovary when the egg or zygote is released surrounded by the Fallopian tubes. It has a hugely important function surrounded by pregnancy. It helps to carry on the pregnancy until the placenta develops around week 12. If fertilization doesn't occur, next it sloughs away during the menstrual period.
