Expired drug?

I used to get yeast infections a few times a year. A doctor give me a Rx for the one dose pill. Fortunately, I haven't had one contained by awhile (infection), however I think I am starting to obtain one. So, I do have one pill on me - but it's expired (fall 06), so capably over 1 year ago. I know some expired meds (such as pain meds) can still be taken - the potency of its effects may lately not be as strong. However, I also know that some meds cannot be taken when expired (like antibiotics) - does anyone know about this one (it's the generic of Diflucan)? I am trying to gain a doc's appointment, but long story, it is taking awhile and since I have the meds here, I would resembling to go ahead and pinch, but was worried roughly the expiry date. If anyone has some info, please tolerate me know.

Answers:    It's not going to hurt you to take the expired pill although it might not be potent satisfactory to cure the problem at this point. I think it would be worth taking it very soon but still schedule an appointment next to your doctor just surrounded by case.
If surrounded by doubt, throw it out. It is not usually recommended taking medications previous the expiration date, as the medication would no longer covered by a pharmaceutical company as being potent.

You could phone and ask your pharmacist for advice and explain your situation to see what they articulate. Some medications call for to be stored out of the light and most will shame if kept in a humid environment, close to the medicine cabinet contained by the bathroom.

I would recommend if they say that it's not a apposite idea to lift it, that you follow through trying in to see your doctor or another doctor simply for a proper diagnosis and proper treatment.

Hope this was some abet. Good luck :)
I really don't think you should nick the chance sometimes expired medication can change into completely different medication and cause abnormal side effects on your body throw it out Carrie instead of taking pills for yeast infections just get through one good aspect yogurt everyday and you won't get yeast infections anymore what the yogurt does is attach good flora to your diet and this is what keep the infections away but make sure this is upright quality yogurt not store brands however as these are poor competence

Or drink plenty of Cranberry juice this will also protect you from yeast infections

Also do not douche this will filch away your own protections your body sets up against yeast infections do all these suggestions and you won't call for pills or doctors Good Luck !
