Answers: I be on it. They told me to use an alternative method such as a condom for the first week, but after that is fine to budge without one. But I read somewhere it starts working in 24 hours. But still stay safe and dally that week. As for side effects... it is highly prearranged for weight gain. I be on it for 8 months and stopped because of the weight gain. Also if cause vaginal dryness that makes sex mortified. And they say not to be on it for more than 2 years. Some clinics will stop giving it after that time frame because it cause bone density loss. And after using it and then going stale, fertility takes a while to come backbone. I'm sorry for no websites, too lazy to look them up for you. But I did my research for getting on it.
I get the depo injection twice. My doctor told me I could start having unprotected sex the minute I get home.
The side effects you will get from it trickle in to 3 category:
1. Uncontrollable menstrual bleeding (me!) You will either spot on and bad for the duration of the 3 months the needle is within effect for (some people progress longer than 3mths but thats just an average), others bleed heavily for the majority of the 3mths.
2. No period at all for 3mths.
3. Weight gain, (caused from hose retention) and /or acne.
As with most types of birth control near are side effects for everything. It's up to you to decide whether the pros and cons are worth it.

I began Depo eight years ago so I don't remember how long it took to become effectual. After my second injection my periods stopped. I tool Depo every thirteen weeks for six and a partly years. During that time I had to enjoy a bone density scan to ensure there be no ill effects in that. I gained seriously of weight (and I propose a LOT), lost hair and grew fuzz on my face. I have to take HRT and that have helped, but slowly. In the eighteen months since my finishing injection I have lone had one length and no idea when it may return. I strongly suggest finding an alternate form of birth control..not have a period did not outweigh the side effects. Oh please don't capture this shot!
Too many women suffer intensely serious health issues because of the shot.
My doctor told me, when I get this, that it takes a week to be fully efficient (at the 99% effectiveness of the depo provera shot, you CAN and women DO acquire pregnant on the shot!).
I was on it, and I'd never recommend it to anyone.

I was on Depo for 3 years and everything be fine. I gained a short time bit of weight, but I infer in seriously of people it's give you a larger appetite so as long as youre careful and exercise you should be fine.
The problems started when I come off it. I hear about the risks of oseoporosis and increased probability of cancer so wanted to try something else. I be advised to not run my last injection give it a few months and then move about back to arrange the pill. Since I've come past its sell-by date it, I've lost all my activeness, am having ridiculous mood swings (ecstatic to depressed within 20 minutes), stomach cramps so bad sometimes I can't stand up straight. Following on from this, I started have dizzy spells and blurred vision - adjectives apparently from the sudden drop in hormone level from not taking Depo.
I'd advise you to stay away from it - you enjoy to realise as well, I be one of the lucky ones who didn't get any symptoms whilst on it - if you DO bring back symptoms, you're stuck with them for 3 months as you can't bring back it out of your body.
On the plus side, I'm not pregnant either!
