18 and signs of dysplasia?

I went for my first gyno appt. a little over a week ago and my doctor said everything seem fine. My "pap specimen" was sent off to the Lab or anything and I could find my results 10 days after my appt. When I go to check my results online they say I requirement to contact my physician, a little nervous I phone up the office and talk to one of the nurses. She said that my results come back abnormal and that here were signs of dysplasia. She went on in the region of what they were going to do, but at this point I started stressing out, so I didn't exactly grasp what she was axiom. I go back contained by a few weeks for some test, she said something about scrape my cervix and a microscope?? Anyone that could help it would be greatly appreciated. I don't know what is going to happen or what to expect. Needless to articulate I'm scared..

Answers:    I don't blame you for being terrified. It's always scary to own any kind of abnormal oral exam results. I have actually basically been through almost the same experience as you, except I'm 23. I have a pap smear about a month ago and it came vertebrae abnormal. My doc said he wanted to do a colposcopy because I also have mild dysplasia. A colposcopy is where they insert the speculum like they do within a normal pap smear, then they verbs your cervix with a vinegar-type liquid (this may sting a moment or two bit), and then your doctor looks through the colposcope so s/he can see a magnified picture of your cervix. The colposcopy itself never enters your vagina. If the doctor see abnomal areas on your cervix, they will probably do a biopsy. They will just take for a while tool and scrape off for a while sample of cells from the extraordinary area. I was really startled about the biopsy part. I thought it be really going to be painful, but I barely feel it when he was doing the biopsy. Granted, I only have to have a small area biopsied, so if you necessitate a larger area biopsied it might hurt a little more. The intact experience wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Your doc should call you around a week later and tell you the results of the colposcopy. I get my results back a couple of days ago and my doc said that the results of the colposcopy showed some mild abnormalities and that he desires to do a cryotherapy procedure (where they freeze off the abnormal cell on the cervix) I will have this done tomorrow. I'm not sure if your doctor would do this if your results are abnormal. I know this complete thing is very worrisome, but my doc said most of the time abnormal cells will travel away on their own, especially if you are young like you are. I hope everything turns out alright for you. I hope this help!!
