Your doctor is giving you doomed to failure information. You can chomp through and drink past a pelvic ultrasound. It will not receive a difference contained by the ultrasound result.
In decree to riddle your bladder, you should drink a chalice or 2 of dampen approx 2 hours back the exam so your bladder will be full during the exam.
Most of the time, we only enlighten our pts not to urinate beforehand the ultrasound and it will be fine.
I am a hospital nurse, and we do these assessment every hours of daylight.
Doctors are usually not very well informed on preps for test thats why the nurse have to explain to them everything. Most MD's are clueless nearly exam preps.
The single time you do not drink or guzzle up to that time an ultra nouns is when they are looking at your liver and brass neck bladder.
Good luck.

Birth Control for the first time and vomitting?

Where I work, the prep for an abdominal u/s is NPO (nothing by mouth) after midnight the night back the exam (if the exam is surrounded by the morning). If the exam is in the afternoon, we ask you be NPO for 6 hours. This is because the feat of consumption creates abdominal gas, and that will interfer near the visualization of the abdominal organs. Also, after consumption, the gallbladder contracts and releases bile. You cannot visualize an derelict gallbladder next to u/s.

For a pelvic u/s, we ask that you drink 24 oz. of river, one hour past the procedure. You can solitary do a transvaginal u/s next to an pointless bladder.

For both an abdominal and pelvic u/s, we would ask you to be NPO, except for the 24 oz. of marine.

Call the facility for clarification on the subject of your prep. You don't want to show up for your appointment lone to be turned away because you are not prepped properly.
