The best advice I can give is the following;
Periods are only as good or as bad as YOU make them!
The better educated you are and the better your attitude towards them the easier they are and the more open you are to learning about them in order to deal with any problems you have.
A few other tips for you;
•For school keep some pads in your bag, keep a few until you know how many you'll need in a day and in case your next period comes at a strange time. Change every few hours between classes or breaks, if you need to change more often then have a quiet word with a teacher you trust so they can excuse you. If worst comes to worst then you can always use toilet paper or layer your clothes.
•Celebrate your first period, it only happens once, it will set the mood for your attitude on all your periods to come and it is a great excuse to get your parents to give you something you want like new clothes or a sleep-over. If you worry about telling your mom then write her a note telling her what you want to know and what you need. In short – welcome to womanhood, congratulations!

•Know your menstrual options, you have over twenty different options to choose from, not just tampons or pads, stick with pads for the time being such as cloth or organic pads as these are more comfortable, when you feel ready for internal options then get yourself a menstrual cup. Particularly avoid commercial brands like Tampax and Always, tampons are best avoided as they are unhygienic and very bad for your health.

•Keep track of your cycle, write down when your period starts and ends, normally this will be 5-7 days, and your full cycle will be about 28+ days, but do not worry if you are not regular as your periods will not regulate for a few years. Keep track of discharge and any possible signs of your period too, it is very important not just to know when your period is due but to learn about your cycles.

•Make sure to shower or go in the bath, your period is not dirty or disgusting in the slightest, but when menstrual blood hits the air it can smell so it is important to keep yourself clean to avoid smell – remember to only ever wash with water and a good wipe with your hand, soaps and washes shouldn't be used at all, they are simply not needed and can start infections.
•Wear comfortable clothes when you are on your period, but also try to wear something that makes you feel good about yourself, it's also a good idea not to wear your good underwear and to wear dark bottoms just while you get used to your period to avoid them getting messed up with blood.
•You don't need to suffer from cramps, bloating or PMS – remember what I said about periods only being as good or as bad as you make them? Well there are a lot of things you can do to prevent these things all together if you are only willing to learn about them, if you do get cramps this time around take a warm bath, relax, drink raspberry leaf tea, all these will help, avoid painkillers as they can make it worse. Make sure you have a good diet and stay relaxed before your period as this can affect things a lot.

•Don't be scared to talk about it to other girls or women in your family, this is something all women go through in their life and there is absolutely nothing embarrassing about it, you may think it is gross or embarrassing at first but hopefully as you grow up you will realise that this is not the case at all, ignore menstrual taboos and appreciate your period because it is a good thing. No matter what anyone tells you periods are good things as it is what makes you a woman and gives you the ability to have children, there is nothing dirty, gross, or embarrassing about periods and every other woman has them so they are nothing to be ashamed of.
•Learn all you can about everything, the more you understand your menstrual cycle, options, ideas, issues then the better you can deal with your period and understand what is going on in your body. Here are some good links about your body and menstruation;

If you need any help or have any questions feel free to e-mail me from my profile and I'll help you more.
if it happens during school time just go to the school nurse
Go to the store and buy some pads....I like the Always brand...you can get it in a petite size for teens (the one with the pink wrappers), and you will need to wear the pads all day and night until the period ends. A typical period lasts 5 days, but since it is your first, it maybe be shorter or longer. As long as you are wearing the pads, you won't have a problem, so it won't matter when you bleed at school. Nobody will know you are having a period unless you tell them
Good Luck.
Yeah, go to the nurse if it happens in school. If you are not too afraid, I would recommend tampons because they work WONDERS. Also, I take Motrin when I have really bad cramps, it works well. Good luck! : )
Around the scheduled first day of your period next month and months after. You need to wear a thin pad for a couple of days before just to make sure you are covered because it can be tricky to predict the day you are going to start for the first year.
Am 17 weeks pregnant and i need an answer from pregnant ladies with experience please?
If you're referring to your first period, then I would definately suggest stashing a few pads in your backpack or handbag. Oh, and nobody will know if you are using a pad. I would get the thinest regular absorbancy. After the first couple of months you can try tampons, which are really easy and comfortable. Just go to restroom between classes and checkif you need to change. When in doubt...start fresh. It is a lot easier than stressing all through class.hey, im 15 and have been getting periods since 6th grade.
-ALWAYS carry around at least three pads/tampons in your backpack.
-remember to change your pads/tampons
-its very good to shower and bathe during this time
-ALWAYS have a good supply of pads/tampons in your house. remember a girl can never have too much pads/tampons.
-its good to keep track of your monthly cycle so you know when to expect it.
-wear comfortable clothing during your period.
-if you wear a tampon, wear a pantiliner as backup protection.
-keep some midol in your backpack in case you get cramps in school and have midol at home.
-if you ever get a leak, wrap a sweatshirt or sweater around your waist.
-for cramps, you can use heating pads to soothe you and drinking hot tea also helps.
-always/tampax/playtex are all great brands.
-its good to wear the ultra thin pads at the end of your period for when your flow is not as heavy.
GOOD LUCK!
when ur on ur period and you have to go to school also you want to wear dark colored pants and have a jacket with you so if it leaks you can at least tie ur swetshirt over ur waist even if it does look dorky! Always carry a pad or tampon. Make sure you eat cuz it really helps you regain some energy. If your cramps are hurting put a hot water bottle of hot towel on your stomach! It really helps! Good Luck!
Amazing idea!! What do u think?
Maybe keep pads in ur lockerhow can i lose 10 pounds in 4 weeks?
Your period will last 3-7 days, so inevitably, you will have to attend school. The worst part is when it arrives inthe middle of the day at school.1) Be prepared. Make sure you always have a pad with you - most backpacks have a hidden pocket you can use, or you can conceal it in a coin purse or wrap it in plain gift wrap. The school nurse or your friends will always have an extra with them.
2) Anticipate. Keep track of when your period starts, and try to figure out which week it will arrive next. You're probably be very irregular for the first year, but you should be able to guess within a few days, and put on a pad the morning before.
3) Accidents Happen. If you're worried about leaking through your pants, this happens a lot. Try wearing long tops or wrapping a sweatshirt around your waist to cover your butt. Eventually you'll get used to how to carry yourself so that this rarely happens - it will become second nature.
4) Dealing with the Pain. Cramps are no fun, but there's lots you can do to help. Hot packs, motrin or ibprofen, hot baths, exercise (esp. pedaling a bike) can all help relieve the pressure and soreness.
5) Ask for help. Adult women are usually better to ask about this than your friends, because they are less embarassed about it, have years and decades of experience dealing with it, and can offer you more reliable advice. Women are usually pretty sympathetic about this.
keep a sweat shirt in your locker. if it happens and you dont have an extra pad or something, you can tie the sweatshirt around your waist and go to the nurse. That is what my friend did when she first got it.
How happens if bad in salt water?
Getting your periods becomes a part of you and soon you will get used to it. If its your first time then for the first couple of months, it'll be a little irregular, such as sometimes there will be a lot of flow or not much and sometimes it lasts for a week or two days, The gaps between periods also change a lot. But after a while it'll sort itself out. You dont have to worry about getting your periods at school, because with a pad on, no one will notice anything, and change your pads as much as you need to. If you get it at school, just go to the school nurse, and she'll provide you with a few pads. If its your first time, i wouldnt recommand using tampons because it might be a little uncomfortable. Wait for a couple of times, and then you can use them. They are quite comfortable, and you wont be able to feel a thing. Just follow the instructions on the package and it'll be fine.- Still no period?
