It will depend on whether or not you enjoy a family history of breast cancer. If you own a family history similar to I do the drs start you at 35, and some may have you do it every year others every other year similar to my dr will have me do.

If nearby is no family history or you don't enjoy a problem with your breasts the mammograms will start at age 40.

My doctor told me between 35 - 40 is when I should start having mammograms every year. If you enjoy a history of breast cancer in your ethnic group (especially in your parent, sibling, or child), closer to 35 would be best, but as expected earlier if you consistency a lump when doing a self-exam.
