I'm trying to conceive, will birth control backing me?

I have be trying to conceive for a little over a year immediately and I was told that if I take on birth control for a little while that when I go and get off of it that would enhance my probability of getting pregnant. Is this true? and if so, how long would I have to be on it 2 get hold of off it?
