Depression, or post-natal depression - whats the difference?

I've suffered depression throughout my life. I be medicated once, it helped and I weaned myself past its sell-by date them so I could feel I be not relying on them to be happy. I am a knowledgeable young woman, and my experience have lead me to recognise the signs of a depressive state comming on past it overcomes me...its still tricky to know quite what to do... but thats not the point!
My sound out is, I have of late had a little one (12weeks old). I know that I am becoming depressed again... I'm not pathetically heartbreaking or anything, but all the signs are in that... losing motivation, problems with extreme tiredness (more than what would be expected from sleepless night with my baby), overeating,.. and consequently not eating at adjectives for ages...So I'm not feeling fantastic! Do I hold post-natal depression because I've had a toddler and I'm depressed... or is it just a return of the condition I know I own? What is the difference? Is post-natal depression caused from indistinguishable imbalance of chemicals, or is it something else?
