You'll be fine, I promise ....

You'll be asked take stale your trousers/skirt and underwear and lie on your support on a couch (you can do this in your own time). You hold to lie near your knees drawn up and spread apart (you'll usually be asked to put your ankles together so your knees will fall apart) . If this position is difficult for you to take into, you can ask your nurse to take the smear when you are lying on your side next to your knees drawn up.

It can be a little uncomfortable because of the position you enjoy to get into but it shouldn't hurt. (it can be more self-conscious if you are very distraught so try your best to relax)

Once your comfortable (or as comfortable as you can be) the doctor/nurse puts an instrument called a speculum inside your vagina (it's an instrument that have 2 arms that spread the sides of your vagina apart so that the doctor/nurse can see your cervix clearly). Then the surface of your cervix (neck of your womb) is scraped with a spatula/ brush. This collects a example of skin cells from your cervix.

As soon as the nurse get your sample she will spread them onto a cup slide and they will be sent off to the lab for conducting tests... the test will be over and you'll be capable of get dressed, in that really is nothing to verbs about :)

Oh and in recent times a note... don't listen to Dr "i'm a GP" Frank...(if he is a GP i'm the tooth fairy) what he explained is a vaginal nouns and will only ever clutch place if the doctor or nurse doing your exam thinks that they obligation to check that your womb is the normal size and surrounded by the right possition (and even then within will be no "side to side to check tubes"<<< how low down does he think your bloody tubes are!! lol), they will purely put 2 fingers inside of you and push gently on your tummy to feel the womb and that is to say all.... the probability of this happening is extreamly slight... nil for you to worry in the region of whatsoever!

Just relax, concentrate on nice things, breathe deeply and it'll be over surrounded by a flash :)

Level out period?

Well, it's a little humiliated, and undignified but it really doesn't hurt, so don't be frightened. The doctor (or nurse) will ask you to remove your lower clothing, and you will be able to do this contained by private. Then you will lie on the bed beside your knees bent, ankles together so your legs are splayed. They insert a speculum with some gel on it, and this is probably the weirdest bit as it feel a bit uncomfortable, but try to relax and it's really not that unpromising. The speculum opens you up (although you really don't tend to touch that bit) and they take a cell taste from your cervix which is, again, a little discomfited, but it's quick. They'll afterwards leave you alone to return with dressed, and the results generally filch a couple of weeks. I usually feel for a time crampy for an hour or so, but if you take a paracetamol back you go, this help. Good luck - it's not that bad - really - and hell, it's better than cervical cancer!

you can expect one hell of a ground tremoring orgamsic porbe scallying around parts of your body that are quite sturdy o have a butchers at.
