The contraceptive, call "Norplant," is a series of 6 matchstick-sized rods that get inserted only beneath the skin of the upper arm. Norplant is not really painful to hold inserted; the problem is more likely to be encounter when the birth control is removed.

With the use of local anesthesia you probably won't feel anything at adjectives during insertion.
