Painful Intercourse, What Causes This?
This bleeding that you are describing is breakthrough bleeding which can act a great deal like a menstrual interval and the causes are sundry which mean it can compass anywhere from just have an infection like cervicitis (inflammation of the cervix and one of the symptoms of this can be bleeding resembling you are describing-I've had personal experience next to this) to something like fibroids and polyps (most recurrently benign-had experience with this too) or even endometriosis.
As for ultrasounds in attendance are a couple of different ways to do it but the best way to do it for gynecologic purposes is thru the vagina.
Sometimes CT Scans can be helpful to the situation as economically.
I would recommend an evaluation with a gynecologist. Start next to your primary care physician if you hold the kind of insurance that requires this.
In the have it in mind time try increasing the level of iron very soon by eating things approaching spinach, raisins, and peanut butter (if not allergic to peanuts of course).

You definitely inevitability to get a referral to a gynaecologist/obstetrician. As suggested you may enjoy PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) or another gynaecological issue.
Any gynaecological investigation usually involves having a internal and external ultrasound to see what is stirring in that nouns. The specialist will also do blood tests.
