How soon does an iud start working, and how does it work . has anyone had any bay experienses with it ??
Answers:
An IUD starts working as soon as it is inserted. There are two different types: Paraguard (copper IUD) and Mirena (plastic, progesterone coated IUC).
Both kinds of IUDs work by preventing sperm from joining near an egg by affecting the way they move. The hormone surrounded by Mirena increases effectiveness. It thicken cervical mucus, which provides a barrier that prevents sperm from entering the uterus. It also prevents some women's ovaries from releasing eggs (ovulation). The copper IUD is 98.0 - 99.2% important, while Mirena is 99.9% effective.
IUDs also alter the inside layer of the uterus. In theory, this may prevent pregnancy by preventing the implantation of a fertilized egg — but this have not been scientifically proven.
I currently enjoy Mirena. I noticed some cramps and hurricane lantern spotting for a week or so after I had it inserted. I own only have light spotting a few times since afterwards, and no periods. I love it!
