I gave up trying to get pregnant, now I am wondering what kind of birth control is best?

I am positive that I couldn't get pregnant for a aim, I am starting school within November! Now I am wondering what the best birth control method is, I prefer not to gain any weight. Does anyone know what could be a appropriate option?
