Weight gain and the depo shot?
I know its is pretty much a fact that most women who recieve the depo provera shot gain bulk. But I want to know why. Does the shot increase appetite or does it just conversion the way the body digests? Does anyone know...? Thanks!

I JUST in a minute got rear legs from my ob/gyn and can answer you this with medical proposal. The depo contains progestin. When you get the shot for the first few days your hormones are crazy. But what the progestin does is destroys your innate progesterone. But whiping out all that progesterone that your body make naturally, it will make a contribution you cravings, increased appetite, irritability, just tons of side effects. Your body wishes that progesterone and with it gone, that's how your body will counter to it being gone. Hope this help.

not sure..i've lone gained conceivably 10 pounds while i've been on it for 3 years, so its prolly not even from the shotWell, i looked into it rather and most places say that nearly 35% of women using Depo-Provera gain weight (about 5-7 pounds surrounded by the first year). The shot increases your appetite and I'm sure all the hormones don't support either (with the appetite). It doesn't crop up to all women, but the cargo gain is pretty common.
After the first year, as near any other birth control pill/shot, your body adjusts to it. In the meantime, return with some exercise and change your lifestyle and you won't enjoy to worry more or less the weight gain. Try drinking healthy snacks when you receive cravings or when your hungry and drink plenty of water.
