Can someone tell me whether getting past its sell-by date the pill (I was on Ortho Tricyclen Lo) can shorten or draw out your cycles?

it can produce your cycles unnormal...a friend of mine got of of birth control pills and her cycle be messed up...like she didn't hold her period for almost 2 months and when she finally did her interval was really bulky.and then contained by 2 weeks she had her term again, and it was hurricane lantern
