What is the reason for having a period that last for over a month?

Answers:    No that is not true below. Periods CAN last a month, there are a few reasons:

1. You could be pregnant.
2. You may have a cyst or something wrong with your ovaries.
3. It could just be that there are "hormonal inbalances".

About 2 months ago I had my period for close to a month so I went to the doctor and she did a pregnancy test for me. It was negative so she told me to get 2 ultra sounds done, and in the end all it was was hormonal inbalances. I suggest you speak to your doctor ASAP..
During the first few years you have your period, it can be very irregular. When I began, it lasted for 3 months. Not so nice. After that, there was a time when I didn't get it for 4 months. I suggest you talk to your doctor about going on birth control to have a regulated cycle, but you have to be at least 14 years old.

If you've already been having your period for many years, then there's a problem..
the above ans about it being untrue that your period should not last a month is an idiot all those reasons that person listed are PROBLEMS. normal people dont have month long periods. go to the OB/GYN ASAP periods aren't supposed to last for over a month...
