Cervical cancer is malignant cancer of the cervix uteri or cervical nouns. It may present with vaginal bleeding but symptoms may be absent until the cancer is surrounded by its advanced stages. Treatment consists of surgery (including local excision) in early stages and chemotherapy and radiotherapy within advanced stages of the disease.
Pap smear screening can identify potentially precancerous changes. Treatment of high position changes can prevent the development of cancer. In developed countries, the rife use of cervical screening programs has reduced the incidence of invasive cervical cancer by 50% or more.
Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is a necessary factor within the development of nearly all cases of cervical cancer.[1] HPV vaccine successful against the two most common cancer-causing strains of HPV has be licensed in the U.S. and the EU. These two HPV strains together are currently responsible for approximately 70%[2][3] of all cervical cancer. Since the vaccine only covers some high-risk types, women should seek regular Pap smear screening, even after inoculation.[4]

Simply put, cervical cancer is cancer of the cervix. A cervix is a part of the uterus that is at the incredibly back of the vagina. It separates the vagina from the uterus.
You have probably hear a lot about cervical cancer because it is habitually called by the Human Papilloma Virus, or HPV. HPV is a sexually transmitted virus that a lot of family (men and women) are exposed to. There is a fairly new vaccine, call Gardasil, that can help prevent you from getting the types of HPV that cause most cases of cervical cancer.
Hope that help!
