What Did Women do when they get their period a long time ago?
Answers: They wore cloths like diapers and wash them. If you read in Biblical times the ancient laws forbade women on their period from handling food or touching people. And after the period be over they were required to wash themselves to purify themselves. So I assume they didn't enjoy a real good method of handling their period! haha..
They used clothes and rags as pads. And the girls would hold to stay home from school when they got their time.
In some religions the girls would be locked in a closet because they believed that they got their spell because they had sinned and God was punishing them.

they either got cotton and smashed it down and used it similar to a pad, or they got old-fashioned scraps of cloth and used that for pads too, stuff resembling that. I've heard about the staying home (and some tribes women remaining surrounded by isolation huts) and also pessaries made from dried absorbent grass being the predecessor to tampons. .
I've also hear that some girls just had to stay home while they bled. they used rag.
